ABOUT

Matt has lived his entire life in Shelton's 3rd ward. His parents moved to Shelton a year before he was born, looking for a quiet, safe place with a quality school system to raise their first and only child. Matt's interest in politics first sparked at age 11, after the horrific Sandy Hook school shooting. Ever since, Matt has been an advocate for common sense gun laws and to get big money out of politics. Further inspiration for Matt came with Bernie Sanders' insurgent 2016 presidential campaign, which opened his eyes to the dark and dreary realization that the entire political system, at every level of government, is rigged in favor of the rich and powerful, at the expense of all the rest of us. Never one for Political apathy, however, Matt is determined to fight back and create a system which works for all of us. He has been politically active, attending numerous protests and volunteering for multiple candidates for state and federal office. All this while he has been too young to even cast a ballot.

Further, Matt has been a student of the Shelton Public Schools system for the past 13 years, currently entering his senior year at Shelton High School. He is a "Student Ambassador", helping volunteer his time at numerous after school events and even participating in the school's shadowing event with visiting students from it's sister school in Jianping, China.

Matt has seen first hand the effects that budget cuts have on a Shelton student's education. He has sat in classrooms with 29 other students, he has read from textbooks almost as old as him, and he has paid the burdensome fees for basic school services and activities. Matt believes it is absolutely shameful that Shelton underfunds it's education budget by $3000 per student, and as your Alderman Matt will be determined to fight for change.
